Free Chinese Language and Culture Activities Offered for “Confucius Institute Day”

On September 27, 2014, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the Oakdale Mall in Johnson City will be host to a day’s worth of exciting free Chinese language and culture activities, including food, performances, lectures, exhibit,arts and crafts, and more!

These activities will be organized by Binghamton University’s Confucius Institute of Chinese Opera (CICO) in honor of “Confucius Institute Day,” which celebrates the 10th Anniversary of the founding of Confucius Institutes. There are over 400 Confucius Institutes in the world, and all of them will offer specialized events on September 27.

In the Center Court of the Oakdale Mall, the public will be welcome to participate in short Chinese language classes, make arts and crafts, try Chinese food, watch Beijing Opera demonstrations, enjoy an exhibit on Beijing opera, and sit in for some interesting talks about Chinese art and culture. In particular, the participants will have a wonderful opportunity to try on gorgeous Beijing opera costumes and experience the charms of the art of Beijing opera.

The “Confucius Institute Day” activities are free and open to all!
